eTwinning Project Plan

Project Title: The Games We Play

Overview: The project will be part of the curriculum as it will incorporate sharing all aspects of learning that takes place throughout the school year.  Children will share some of the games that they like to play both in school and out of school.  We will look at traditional games and digital games. Children will share with one another and teach each other new games.

Outcomes:
To understand that games can aid learning.
To write instructions for games.
To collaborate within digital games.
To design games and critically evaluate them.

Steps:

September:
Schools involved introduce themselves presenting information about themselves using any of the following tools: powerpoint/prezi/sway/story jumper/adobecreate/book creator

October/November:
All schools get as many pupils as possible to fill in the google form about the games they play.
Children write about their favourite games.
Parents and grandparents are given questionnaires about the games that they played when they were children.
In the padlet all schools begin to post some pictures, videos and links to traditional games and on a different padlet digital games.

December:
Development of collaborative game playing.  Teachers create a nearpod lesson about Christmas.  The nearpod lesson includes some activities within it, a quiz and a drawing activity.  All children are given access to the nearpod lessons.
Kahoot is used as a realtime lesson which children take part in at an agreed time.  The kahoot will be about different games.

January/February/March:
Children are given the task of creating or sharing a simple game.  This can be done using various means including 2doityourself, jigsaw planet, scratch and scratch jr, kodable, minecraft or could be made and sent through the post.  These games are then shared with the other pupils involved in the project.
Children also share instructions to playground games that they play.  Children then have opportunities to play the games in their own school and share what they thought of the games on the padlet.

April/May
Creation of an ebook on games.  A book is produced about games in the past from the information given by parents and grandparents.
Another book is produced that gathers together the games that children play now with instructions children have written.
A padlet is created with children's game recommendations and reviews that is shared with children and parents, including PEGI recommendations.

June:
Project evaluation.  Google forms are used to gather teachers, parents and pupils views of the project.
The results are then shared including further recommendations.
